CERTIFIED SEED POTATOES
We grow only Field Year 1, certified seed potatoes, in the middle of a meadow pasture, ground leased from a neighboring rancher, that was previously in CRP and has been in pasture for many years since then, with no pesticides or chemical fertilizers used. The land also has water rights to clean spring water, for irrigation. We use a gravity feed drip irrigation system which allows precise control of water delivery and maximum efficiency of use. This has presents perfect opportunity to transition to organic production of seed potatoes. We are working with the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, Organic Certification Program. Our field is divided into plots 80' x 110'. Each plot is divided into 20 rows of 48" with 10 rows of potatoes alternating with ten rows of living walkways. The walkways. The initial walkways are the cool season grasses, which populate the pasture.

CERTIFIED IDAHO SEED POTATOES
Certified seed potatoes are a highly a regulated product, across state and international jurisdictions, by agencies such as the US Department of Agriculture, state departments of agriculture and various foreign governing bodies. Responsibility for administering regulation is often relegated NGOs such as the Idaho Crop Improvement Association, Inc., as in the case with Idaho.
Under their "Reports" drop down menu you will find the 2024 Idaho Certified Potato Seed Growers Directory. You may browse that directory to find the seed varieties and field years entered for certification by Soda Springs Solar Gardens, LLC.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC
We are in the process applying for organic certification, for our FY1 seed potatoes, through the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, Organic Program. We expect organic certification for seed available in spring of 2026.

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE
Once we have organic certification figured out, we will begin to investigate regenerative credentials. We already practice many regenerative and conservation principals i.e. no-till/minimum till, cover cropping, crop rotation, use animal manures, etc.
